Club Info

The Knox BMX Club’s primary function is to provide organised competition for those riders wishing to participate in BMX racing. The club caters for all age and gender groups with current riders ranging in age from Under 5 to over 50.  The club provides a friendly and supportive atmosphere for all involved.

Monthly club races
Club Championship race meetings are held twice a month on a Friday evening. Other club meetings are scheduled on both Friday nights and sometimes on Saturday afternoons.  Full details are listed in the club Calendar and also on the club web site www.knoxbmx.com.au

Other racing in Victoria and interstate
Riders can also choose to compete in the many open competition race meetings held on most weekends throughout Victoria or the rest of the country.

When can I ride at the track?
The Knox BMX Track is open to the public at all times unless there is an official club race meeting or other function such as practice or coaching in progress. When the gates are closed there are two pedestrian gates where bikes can be lifted through.

Gate Practice
For most of the year the Knox BMX Club opens the track for gate practice on a Thursday night between 6:30 and 7:30 pm. (Under lights when necessary) Gate practice is sometimes suspended for a short period through the winter months. More details are included in the most recent club newsletter and on our web site www.knoxbmx.com.au

Coaching
Saturday morning coaching sessions are conducted throughout the year. A schedule of coaching sessions is also included in the newsletter and on our web site www.knoxbmx.com.au

Working Bees: Working bees are conducted once a month with additional days scheduled usually in preparation for an event.

Race Meetings: Club championship races are conducted monthly. (Currently the first Friday night of each month) Always check the current newsletter to confirm dates.

Open race meetings: Currently the Knox BMX Club conducts two open race meetings each year.

The first is a round of the very popular “Track Attack” series conducted by the Eastern Region during the January school holidays.

The second is the biggest event in Victoria outside the state championships. Named “Knox Thunderdome” this two day event is traditionally on the weekend after Melbourne Cup day each year.

Knox members are welcome to race at both of these meetings and parents/family members are encouraged to come along and help run the meetings.

When can I join?
Anyone wishing to join the club can do so at club races, official training sessions on Thursday nights and Saturday mornings, or by contacting one of the club phone contact numbers.

What will it cost me?
Refer to the separate sheet outlining the costs involved. You will be required to pay a Knox BMX Club membership fee which also includes your BMX Australia Race licence fee. All fees are for a period of 12 months from when you join.

Can I try before I join?
Yes, BMX Australia offers a 3 ride permit which allows you to compete at three club level events. The cost of a 3 ride permit is $20.00 then if you decide to join up you receive a $30.00 discount off the cost of a BMX Australia licence. These are highly recommended for all new members and can be purchased from the club.
